About the Eurovision Song Contest:

As a little boy Alje watched in 1970 the Eurovision Song Contest and saw Dana win with 'All kinds of everything'. His sister bought the record and purchased that of number two Mary Hopkin too. Alje played them secretely at her attic room. It must have been the period that Alje became infected by the Eurovision-virus.
In the 90’s Alje organized renowned living room parties at the night of the festival, at which Dutch Eurovision-icons like Saskia and Serge and Heddy Lester performed.
From 2007 Alje has visited the festival several times. As a journalist, but most of all as an enthusiast.
